10 Years of Places + Faces

Places + Faces recently celebrated their 10 year anniversary.

The UK based brand has had streetwear and hip hop lovers in a chokehold for a decade.

Places + Faces has been throwing crazy fits and parties all over the world. But the 10 year journey from a tumblr page to one of streetwear’s hottest brands wasn’t one of overnight success.

Imran Ciesay aka Ciesay and Solomon Boyede aka Soulz started Places + Faces in 2013 in a way that reminds us of the lads at Daily Paper.

It started when Ciesay spent a summer in New York. "I wasn't a photographer at the time," Ciesay admits. "But I was bored and had a camera, so I just went around the city, shooting different events."

He would pose as a photographer for big brands and talk his way backstage to gigs and concerts, capturing some of the biggest names in the hip hop scene. Simultaneously, Soulz was photographing at concerts, capturing the underground scene back in London.

When Ciesay came back to London Soulz the boys had all these images that told a visual story of the culture at the time- it was reflective of the music, fashion and art. Soulz came up with the idea for a Tumblr blog for them to upload their images. Back then Tumblr was one of the few notable platforms where most of these artists had accounts and one could gain visibility.

Eventually Ciesay and Soulz started slapping the Places + Faces logo onto hoodies, serving as their first ever merchandise while doubling as their interactive calling cards. Needless to say these caught on like wildfire. From there on there was no turning back. The Places + Faces logo was placed on a bunch of clothing and accessories and from there on there was no looking back.

Since then, Places + Faces have been dropping regular collections featuring tees, pants, hoodies, jackets, caps, bodysuits, skirts and dresses. They also do photo exhibitions of their work. In 2022 Ciesay and Soulz displayed their collection of one of a kind polaroid pictures they have taken over the years at an exhibition for the launch of their book which was a compilation of these polaroids. It included shots of Tyler The Creator, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Quentin Tarantino, Pharell Williams and Nigo to name a few.

A part of the Places + Faces legacy is their club nights and insane parties all around the world.

In celebration of their 10 years, Places + Faces dropped a special capsule collection featuring tees, bomber jackets, hoodies and bags.

The P+F Angel MA Plus Bomber jacket which features the Places + Faces curly logo and the P+F Angel embroidered onto a satin bomber jacket.

Some of the graphic tees in their collection feature texts referencing their beginnings as photographers with slogs like “ I Spent All My Money On Film”, “All Shooters Go To Heaven “ and “ No Photos Allowed”.

The Places + Faces Reflective Down Jacket is as the name suggests a down Bomber Jacket in complete 3M that is compltely reflective when hit with a flash.
